Zoya is a revolving door, constantly opening to new Zoya Girls (shoppers), who quickly become regulars. Zoya Girls learn rapidly, to stop in at the very least, once a week for the ever changing racks and displays.
Founder Diana Makaj is a professional fashion stylist. She’s freelanced for Dolce & Gabbana, in New York City. She’s worked on location at homes, movie sets, shows, and events. She shows tremendous compassion for her beloved Zoya Girls. When asked on her vision for Zoya, by White Plains Watch, she replied “It’s given us an opportunity to expand on our vision of providing a totally relaxing, eclectic, fun shopping experience. I wanted to create a store with something great to offer every woman, regardless of age, size, mind set, or budget. I especially wanted women to be able to come into Zoya and find things that made them look good and feel better. I will not sell something that doesn’t flatter my customer.”
Our savvy name has a special history… During the birth of Zoya Boutique, Diana had trouble to put a name to the dream, something that would best describe her store. She searched for the right word to personify, a strong, independent, smart, classy, goddess-like, woman. Finally, it came to her, Zoya. Diana looked at her own family of strong and independent women, and realized the right name was there all along. Zoya derives from the Albanian language (Diana’s direct heritage), which depicts exactly what she was looking for.
Ten years later, Zoya has only become a stronger boutique, through the love of Zoya Girls. Zoya has appeared in a number of magazines. In 2005, Westchester Magazine named Zoya Boutique one of the Best Shops in Westchester County. In 2007, Intown Magazine named Zoya Boutique one of their 101 Favorite Things in Westchester. Other Magazines Zoya Boutique has been honored in are; Scarsdale Magazine, Westchester Family, LoHud News, The Journal News, Inside WC, Illyria Gazette, and Albanian Girl Magazine.
